TEMASEK DESIGN SCHOOL STUDENTS WIN D&AD STUDENT OF THE YEAR
01.07.2008 News
Singapore - (TDS) has set the record as the first school in Asia to receive the "D&AD Student of the Year" award at the D&AD Student Awards Ceremony 2008.
From over 3,500 international entries, TDS students Reinald Chee Weng Pin (IMD) and Jason Feng Jiesheng (MOI) were awarded both a prestigious D&AD Yellow Pencil and the "D&AD Student of the Year" award for their boundary-pushing creative response to MTV's brief to promote the brand as if it were a virus. Entitled "Modus Transposition Virus: Humoral 315", the work is a multi-platform installation involving video, animation, motion graphics, graphic design and interactive media for the MTV channel.
The D&AD Student Awards is a prestigious international competition whose purpose is to highlight the best emerging creative talent within design, advertising and communications courses from institutions around the world.
In their 30th year, the Student Awards exist to identify the best new talent in advertising and design and this is the first time a team studying outside of the UK has won the top creative prize.
Al Young, D&AD Education Chairman, said: "The quality of work across the board was the best I have ever seen. College standards have risen to such a height, that the judges agreed that much of the material exhibited by these students should have contended at a professional level"
"Despite some strongly held differences of opinion on the panel, Pin and JeishingÂs MTV project ultimately triumphed. We were knocked for six by their energy, wit and resourcefulness"
