SICHUAN 5.12 EARTHQUAKE: QUAKE RESCUE THEME POSTER EXHIBITION

Chengdu (China) - At 14:28 on 12 May 2008, an M 8.0 earthquake hit Wenchuan, Sichuan Province. The earthquake resulted in the most serious devastation since the foundation of the People's Republic of China and inflicted enormous human and property losses in Sichuan Province and neighbouring areas. Under these unprecedented extreme circumstances, all Chinese people, helped by selfless donations from all over China and around the world, devoted great sympathy to their own people.
Objective:
To mobilise all resources to contribute to the earthquake rescue. To engage designers in encouraging people who have suffered and persist in their combat against the earthquake. The exhibition of posters will be exhibited, edited and published to commemorate the disaster.
Theme:
The theme is 'Unified Determination Mitigating Quake Disaster'.
Participation:
Teachers and students from design universities and personnel from design institutions may take part in the exhibition. Design firms and designers from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore, etc. are invited to contribute.
Exhibition:
512 pieces will be chosen for the final exhibition. The exhibition will take place in business centers, streets and schools of the major quake-hit cities in Sichuan Province at the appropriate time.
Deadline:
Pieces must be submitted by 25 June 2008.
Certificates:
Chosen pieces will be awarded an exhibition certificate and collection albums will be given as gifts.

- Submitted work should comply with the theme, "Unified Determination Mitigating Quake Disaster" and should be the orginal work of the authors who bear total liability for copyright issues. The name, description, brief introduction about the author, nationality and contact information should be attached.
- Size: B1 (110 cm x 73 cm) submitted in .jpg format at 300dpi resolution.
- No participation fee is charged and submitted work will not be returned.
- Once chosen, the copyright of the work shall be deemed to be ceded to the sponsors unconditionally. The sponsors have the right to use the work for promotion and publishing purposes associated with the activity without prior notice to the authors.
