REGISTRATION OPENS FOR DUTCH DESIGN AWARDS 2008
10.08.2008 News
Eindhoven (The Netherlands) - Registration for the Dutch Design Awards (DDA) 2008 is now open. The best Dutch designs in the categories 'communication', 'product', and 'spatial' can now be registered online. Recently graduated designers can register for the RADO Young Designer Award. Registration closes on 21 August 2008.
Designs entered for the competition have to be produced or published between 1 August 2007 and 1 August 2008. A major criterion is the economic value of Dutch Design. The design is or will be made available to the Dutch market.
Scouting around for excellent work
In addition to the online registration procedure, a number of selection committees will actively scout around in the work field. As the members of these selection committees have professional knowledge of the relevant design disciplines, the Dutch Design Awards organisation can be assured of the very best Dutch Design.
The selection committees will select three nominees per subcategory from the total number of entries, i.e. the works selected for entry by the scouts as well as the works entered via the Internet. It is the task of the international jury to decide who will be stepping into the spotlights of the most prestigious Dutch platform for outstanding design to receive one of the much-coveted Awards. The Awards Ceremony takes place on Saturday, 18 October 2008.
The winners and the nominees will be included in the DDA exhibition and catalogue. The exhibition is open to visitors during the Dutch Design Week from Saturday, 18 October through Sunday, 26 October 2008.
New visual identity
The sixth edition of the Dutch Design Awards has a new set-up, a new team, a new name, and a new look! The team of Studio Dumbar has once again developed the new visual identity of DDA.
Competition and festive Awards Show
The competition is the core of the Dutch Design Awards. As many as 20 Dutch Design Awards will be granted in the main categories 'communication', 'product', and 'spatial'. In addition, the jury will grant an 'overall' prize - The Golden Eye - to the most successful product of 2008. The competition also comprises a number of special awards - the Public Award Audi Design Award, the RADO Young Designer Award - and four Special Awards - the Best Practice Award, Piet Zwart Oeuvre Prize, the Design for All Award, and the Toon van Tuijl Award.
