Montreal (Canada) - New to the Icograda Education Network, the is an independent, co-educational, equal opportunity tertiary education institution based in Nicosia, Cyprus.
The University was originally founded as one of three private colleges under the name of Intercollege in 1980. In October 2007, the school was approved as the University of Nicosia by the Cyprus Government. Combining the best elements in western education, quality standards and an international philosophy, the University has since become a global education centre.
The School's Department of Design and Multimedia is committed to educate thinking and responsible designers for the new era, encouraging research and experimentation. Its programmes provide a broad education, delivering the ideal balance of practical, technological and theoretical learning. The courses build strong foundations in design and production methods and equip students with the tools necessary to conceive, develop and manage the graphic design and multimedia projects of tomorrow.
The Department's teaching is based on excellence in staff research and practice. Active research members of the academic staff and internationally acclaimed design practitioners teach high-calibre graduates how to become leaders in the creative industries.
The Department has now more that 300 students in its programmes coming to Cyprus from China, the Middle East, as well as Europe. Moreover, the school accepts students on educational exchange programmes, such as Erasmus. As a result, many current and future designers all over the world have been trained following one of the school's programmes.
"We like to create strong bonds with internationally acclaimed design bodies," states Dr. Klimis Mastoridis, the Head of the school. "This is crucial for a small country like Cyprus. This will make our students feel even more part of an international family within the design community."
