04.02.2009 News
Chaumont (France) - Icograda is pleased to endorse the twentieth annual , taking place from 16 May - 14 June 2009. Each year, an increasing number of students, professionals and general public come to the Chaumont Festival to discover the best in contemporary French and international creations and to pay homage to a key figure in the history of graphic design.
The Festival focuses on diversity of content, and presents the colorful reality of graphic design by comparing and contrasting works produced in various studios and workshops on an international scale.
A highlight of the Festival will be the exhibition of 100-120 posters, selected from the International Poster Competition 2009. Designers, studios, institutions and companies from all over the world are invited to submit printed posters created within the past three years with cultural, social, political or commercial themes. The deadline for submission is 20 February 2009.??
In early March, a pre-selection Jury of French and international graphic designers will select the semi-finalists for the international exhibition, to be on display from 16 May - 14 June 2009 as part of the Festival activities. An international Jury of renowned graphic designers will then make a final selection from these posters. First, Second, Third and Icograda Excellence Award winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 16 May 2009.??
All the selected posters are meticulously filed and stored in one of the finest and largest in collections France. Chaumont's international poster collection offers an exciting counterpart to the Fonds Dutailly, a collection of historic posters donated to the city one century ago. This unique ensemble is intrinsically linked to the Festival, laying the groundwork for the Graphic design, which will establish Chaumont as leading forum for work, encounters, research and permanent exhibitions in the field of poster and graphic design.
??A second component of the Festival is the sixteenth Student Competition. "Students, all to Chaumont!" invites students to submit work on the theme of "Being twenty". The deadline for entries is 13 March 2009.??
Finally, students who have at least two years of academic experience in the field of graphic design are given the opportunity to take part in the "Being twenty" studio-workshop series from 12 Â14 May 2009. The deadline for registration is 13 March 2009.??
More information on the Festival activities can be found in the endorsed event description.
