Former Icograda Treasurer appointed Danish Designers Chairman

Copenhagen (Denmark) - Former Icograda Treasurer and Vice President 2001-2005 Karen Blincoe has been appointed next chairman of Danish Designers, the professional design association of Denmark. She brings a wealth of experience in both the domestic and the international design world. She has outlined her upcoming two-year term with the following keywords: professionalism, communication, commitment and sense of community.
Karen plans to build upon the solid foundation of Danish Designers as the leading organisation in Denmark for promoting and drawing attention to design. Rather than embark upon large projects, she has four main goals to strengthen the organisation:
- They need to increase the number of members. The past years of financial crisis have shown a decline.
- They need to establish a serious platform for further education - centred around continuing professional development. Designers need to be given the opportunity to fill up the inner think tank and create new knowledge and change through inspiration and conceptual development.
- They must involve more members more actively in the organisation. The relationship between member and organisation must be changed from a client relationship to a collaborative relationship. This creates dynamics and commitment.
- They must establish groups of design leaders in the major cities. There it will be possible to discuss local problems and have a dialogue with the companies regarding the use of design and designers.
