DMI to host 'Re-Thinking ... the future of design' conference
10.03.2010 News
San Francisco (United States) - Last year's Re-Thinking ... Design conference was a huge success for Icograda Affiliate Member, (DMI), and the design community. Due to the demand created by last year's success, DMI is doing it again. From 16-17 June 2010, 'Re-Thinking ... the future of design' will take it up a level and look to the future.
Returning are last year's influential co-chairs to host the event, Roger Martin, author of the acclaimed new book, The Design of Business: Why Design Thinking is the Next Competitive Advantage, and Darrel Rhea, well-known author and design opinion leader.
DMI's Design/Management Thinking conversational-format conference will move beyond philosophical arguments on design thinking: it will grapple with the real changes in the expectations that all types of organisations are beginning to have about the designer's potential level of contribution - and the implications for you as a professional. What do you need to learn to take advantage of the shift in the definition of Design? What's coming next? Bring your own questions and issues to the conversation and raise points what you find meaningful in this important discussion.
A cast of world-class thinkers will drive the dialogue about how design is changing. Content will include leading-edge practices from the point of view of executives who are applying design thinking to transform their organisations. Corporate design managers will talk about whether their role is really changing or not. Hear from the best in both the design world and business and design education as they discuss what is changing in the field, and the dramatic response from academic institutions. And, illuminate how the new thinking is changing the face of social innovation with some front-runners doing large scale experiments.
Early registration is now open. Sign up by 15 April and get the early discount! Look for speaker announcements on this page in the coming weeks.
