DMI APPOINTS NEW COUNCIL MEMBERS

Professor
Rachel Cooper is the head of the Creative Arts Department at Lancaster
University, one of the leading business schools in the UK. Dr. Cooper
has been undertaking design research for the past twenty years, and
written over 100 papers, six books, was Founding Chair of the European
Academy of Design, and is also Founding Editor of The Design Journal.
Her research interests cover design management; design policy; new
product development; design in the built environment; urban
regeneration; design against crime and socially responsible design. She
will help advise DMI on its research programs.
David
Griffiths has a commercial background in design management and is a
contributor to design education and professional practice issues.
During the past 14 years he has contributed to many design management
degree programmes as lecturer, external examiner and course advisor,
including the pioneering MBA in Design Management degree program at the
University of Westminster in London. He is presently an advisor to
several universities in India to help develop the emerging role of
design management
education in India.
Maureen
Thurston is an accomplished author, international lecturer, and a
Professor of Design Management at Art Center College of Design.
Thurston is also Principal and Founder of ACCESS International,
the first brokerage for design and development in the United States.
Her clients include 3M, BMW and HP, among others.
With
these appointments, DMI will further develop its 2006-2007 research
agenda; which consists of design and design management competency,
valuation, and futures. With 1,400 members in 44 countries, DMI is the
international authority, resource and advocate on design management,
and a thought leader in the areas of design management, design strategy
and design leadership.
