DEADLINE EXTENSION: RENAISSANCE OF THE TYPE
16.09.2008 News
Budapest (Hungary) - The deadline for submissions for the Renaissance of the Type international design competition has been extended to 21 September, 2008. Organised by the Society of Hungarian Graphic Designers and Typographers (MATT), this competition is open to all domains of graphic design and typography. Submissions can be fictional or created on commission, and applicants must be over the age of 18 (20 in the United States) to enter.
Background
Reading texts has fundamentally changed in our era. Not only we relate to written texts in a different way, but the paradigm of writing and reading as a set of active relationships has also shifted in the past decade. While the amount of information to be transferred is constantly growing, increasingly less time is available. New tools and new media are shaping the written language. A new language is being formed that has already demolished the barriers of the old order. The erosion of the tradition can fuel fatal distortions without the conscious act of dynamic reconsideration. Can a new order arise on our expanding visual ground? Can text and type be reborn in a newer concept of our visual world thus making the experience of 'deciphering' interesting again?
Deadline: 21 September
