CREATIVE WAVES: LAST CALL FOR APPLICATIONS DEADLINE 20TH FEBRUARY 2005

Brussels (Belgium) - The deadline for registration to the 'Creative Waves*' project - the world's first major international online student design project - is approaching. All student applications must be submitted by midnight on Sunday 20th February. Those who wish to be involved and who have not yet completed an application, have to visit the Creative Waves website and submit their form using the To Apply button at www.omnium.edu.au/promo/creativewaves
Representatives from Icograda and Omnium are meeting in Melbourne on 21st February to examine each application. Final decisions regarding applications will be sent to all applicants by Friday 25th February.
Application update
With only five weeks till the commencement of the Creative Waves project, the organisers have now received applications from students and teachers in over 35 countries throughout South and North America, Europe, Scandinavia, Middle-East, Africa, south east Asia and Australasia. An overwhelming number of students, teachers and professionals from all over the world are continuing to contact the Creative Waves organisers to be involved and express their interest in participating. We thank everyone for such great enthusiasm.
Creative Waves workshops
Institutions from every continent are organising themselves and are informing their students to participate in the project. Many of these institutions have had an overwhelming number of their students wanting to take part and are now incorporating the project into their curricula. They are selecting 3 or 4 of their top students to officially take part and are running the project internally as a workshop to the rest of their students.
Icograda and Omnium Projects are looking forward to receiving more student and teacher application forms arrive before the 20th Feb.
*Hosted by Icograda and The Omnium Project (Australia), Creative Waves is a series of free international online student projects in graphic design, photomedia and visual communication. The first Creative Waves project, titled 03>04>05, will link art and design students, and their teachers, from member schools of the Icograda Education Network (IEN). Using Omnium's innovative online 'studio' interface, participants will interact in small creative teams to respond to an unfolding design brief.
Students in the Creative Waves 'virtual' design studio will interact with like-minded people from around the globe in an innovative and exciting design project. Students will also have the chance to showcase their work online and receive feedback from other students, design academics and professional practitioners.
The project will take place over 6 weeks in March and April 2005.
