YOUNG PACKAGE 2005 COMPETITION RESULTS DISPLAYED IN ATTRACTIVE 10TH ANNIVERSARY CATALOGUE

Brno (Czech Republic) - The Czech Republic Design Centre and Model Obaly have released the results of the 10th Young Package 2005 Competition in a catalogue highlighting the event's 10th year of existence.
Endorsed by Icograda, this competition is for people around the world who are under the age of 30 and are either young designers or students in vocational schools, universities or art schools. The aim is to encourage innovative package design and free art work that utilises paper and cardboard. Works are evaluated on the basis of creativity, original shape and idea and inventiveness in construction and functionality. This year, the competition, which was held in mid-April, counted 386 entries from 11 countries. The results were announced at the Embax International Trade Fair of Packaging, Paper and Printix that was held from 17 > 30 May 2005 at the Brno Exhibition Centre.

Secondary School Category:
1st place: Jan Skola, Czech Republic - Packaging for glasses
2nd place: Marek Gaj, Slovakia - A set of jars
3rd place: Karel Vranek, Czech Republic - Gift packaging for cream jars
University Category:
1rst place: Dorota Terlecka, Poland - Packaging for toothpaste and toothbrush
2nd place: Anne Werner, Poland - Time, a set of decorative objects
3rd place: Jacek Szymanski, Poland - Box for cosmetics
Young Designers Category:
1st place: Liv Quackels, Belgium, CD Fold
2nd place: Jiri Leseticky, Czech Republic, Functional packaging with blade
3rd place: Julia Dologova, Slovakia, Bowls for light refreshment
UVU CR Special Prize:
Vladmir Haltof and Michal Cerva, Czech Republic, Universal packaging for disk media
Special Award of the Jury Chairman:
Michael Nunweiler, Canada, Packaging No.6 (cutlery)
