University of Sharjah School of Architecture and Design becomes College of Architecture, Art and Design

Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) - Officials at the School of Architecture and Design at the are proud to announce that the school is now the College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD). This resolution was passed by the Board of Trustees on 1 March and became effective immediately.
This is appropriate in its acknowledgement of the make-up of faculty and the many activities, awards and recognitions over the years by faculty and alumni. This also signals a strong advance in terms of the future mix and balance of new minors and majors at the graduate and undergraduate levels in the college. Further, the arts are becoming an ever-increasing entity in the United Arab Emirates and the region, and faculty members are proud to be contributing to, and informed by, this dynamic context.
Additionally, there was a very major building renovation approved by the Board of Trustees which will include a significant Materials and Digital Fabrication Lab. It will go into construction at the end of May for a very fast-track project that will be completed by the start of classes in September. This renovation will assist the school in remaining at the forefront in education in the region and amongst the leaders globally.
The renovation, coupled with revised curricular content, sequencing, structure and explicit collaborations amongst the disciplines, will greatly enhance the CAAD's ability to continue to provide excellent education in architecture, art and design.
