Essen (Germany) - The times of great style and trend waves seem to be finally over - not only in fashion, literature, and art, but also in communication design. This, however, does not mean that boredom and dreariness have taken over, but rather that creative minds draw on plentiful resources. Never before has access to information from all around the world been so easy, and never has the world been as ephemeral as it is today. Thus, designers are playing with old and new techniques along with experimenting with styles and elements from foreign cultures.

Many young as well as experienced designers still have to learn how to take advantage of this multitude of possibilities, says design expert Professor Peter Zec, initiator of the Red Dot Design Award. Most important is that they stay focussed on what they want to communicate as well as the client's interest and the means best suitable for this purpose. Those, who have a superb command of this multitude of possibilities and know how to transport their message in impressive snapshots, are now receiving awards for the high design quality their work in the Red Dot Awards: Communication Design Competition. Every year, the best works from the field of communication design are selected from among the numerous entries in the international competition.

Competition Results
This year, the jury of nine international design experts had to judge the design quality of 3,094 entries. Two-hundred-and-twenty-five works received a Red Dot Award, with 25 of them the receiving the Red Dot for Best of the Best Outstanding and Pioneering Design Achievements.
