Vancouver (Canada) - The 1st International Congress on Design and Business has received Icograda's endorsement.* The congress will be held in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) from in June 2002. This four-day event will address the impact of graphic design on the growth and development of companies around the world.
Design got the status of a strategic instrument to consolidate a place in a global economy. It is important to analyse and demonstrate how this interface works, both from designers' and clients' points of view. It's the best way to convince business managers of the importance of having designers taking part in their projects, said Carla Niemeyer, the congress organiser. Speakers at the congress will demonstrate how design acts as a marketing tool in a global economy. They will also show how design can raise international awareness about environmental and social issues.
