Taipei (Taiwan - Chinese Taipei) - The Icograda Design Education Manifesto 2011 was launched on 27 October 2011 at the Icograda General Assembly 24 in Taipei, Taiwan (Chinese Taipei).
"The Design Education Manifesto 2011 is a fruit of a 2-year-long process engaging some of the most prominent design education experts from around the world. The final output addresses the needs and desires of the future of design education in a world both converging and expanding" said Omar Vulpinari, Icograda President Elect and Co-chair of the Manifesto update.
"Co-chairing the Icograda Design Education Manifesto 2011 with Omar Vulpinari has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my professional career. I applaud Icograda for creating the Manifesto back in 2000 and keeping it current because it both mentors and nurtures young and old designers now and in the future," added Audrey G. Bennett, who worked with Vulpinari throughout the two year process.

The update was created to mark the 10-year anniversary of the original Icograda Design Education Manifesto presented at ',' the Icograda Millennium Congress 2000 Seoul. Prof. Ahn Sang-Soo led the original Manifesto project and contributed to the 2011 update.
Following a workshop at Shandong University of Art and Design, 23 members of the Icograda network were invited to form the Manifesto steering committee. Each member contributed a 1000-word essay on the future of design education, which formed the basis of the Manifesto update. The update was then translated and individually designed by six teams of design mentors and pupils - one for each official UN language. The six versions of the Manifesto, supported by the essays, are included in the 2011 book.
Designed and produced by , the book concept was inspired by the Manifesto's mandate to bridge east and west, north and south. The book imitates an arrow, which, when pointed north in Taipei, shows the location of each author.
