Icograda adds new depth to its executive leadership

Montréal (Canada) - At its recent meeting in Montréal, the Icograda Executive Board co-opted three new Board members: Jeffrey Ho Kiat (Singapore), Kyle Hyunsuk Kim (Korea) and Sali Sasaki (France). President Leimei Julia Chiu (Japan) explains that, "each of these individuals bring strategic skills and networks that will help advance Icograda's initiatives this term and into the future." In previous terms, the Icograda Executive Board has made similar appointments to bring the skills and diversity required to fulfil its mandate.
Jeffrey brings experience in policy development and building strong relationships between government, business and the design sector. The Board has identified such affiliations as a key priority for Icograda this term. He is expected to advance Icograda's commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.
As exchange is increasingly concentrated online, social media and content development are key components to Icograda's communications portfolio. Kyle is an expert practitioner in media and user experience and brings depth and new insight to strengthen Icograda's position online and ability to collaborate effectively into the future.
Sali has demonstrated a passion for investigating cultural dynamics - whether indigenous or contemporary - and sharing those experiences through her writing. These strategic skills will brings dimension to the continued development of INDIGO and Icograda's commitment to cultural diversity.

Jeffrey Ho Kiat (Singapore)
Executive Director, DesignSingapore Council
A trained architect and strategic design specialist, Jeffrey Ho was appointed Director of DesignSingapore Council in January 2010. Throughout his career, he has helped organisations and businesses work towards the strategic use of design to achieve a competitive edge.
As the Executive Director, he spearheads the national agency for design in Singapore; charting national policies on design and leading the Council in developing design capabilities, enabling enterprises to leverage on design to be more competitive and better exploit design-driven innovation to make Singapore the global city for design creativity in Asia.
He is the founder of the National Design Centre, which will open in 2013.

We aim to work with governments and organisations, to effect social, cultural, political, economic and technological policies that make lives better for all of us."
Kyle Hyunsuk Kim (Korea)
Department Chair, Hongik University
A design educator and practitioner based in Seoul, Korea, Kyle Hyunsuk Kim is currently the Visual Communication Design Department Chair at Hongik University and CEO at studio Nautilus Inc. He is a communications strategist, design consultant and accomplished creative director with a focus in user experience design in new media.
Kyle worked as a creative director/design manager at Yahoo! User Experience Design team and designed event sites such as the official website of the FIFA World Cup 2002 Korea/Japan, 2006 Germany. He served as a Webby Award International Ambassador and is a currently committee member of the Korea Web Awards, a vice president of Visual Information Design Association in Korea (VIDAK) and a board member of the Asia Digital Arts and Design Association (ADADA) and Korea Society of Design Science (KSDS).
"I would like to be a part of finding answers to the questions such as when, where and how social responsibility should takes place in design, and what the ethical choices that come with it are. I would like to propose an idea to develop a content platform to embrace social design practice and raise awareness of the importance of sustainable thinking. Icograda's online presence in social design support will ripple out into our local design communities and our world."
Sali Sasaki (France)
Consultant
A freelance consultant, public speaker and advisor on design, cultural development and creative industries, Sali holds an MA from the Royal College of Art London and a BFA from Parsons School of Design.
She has been a design research and writer for international clients including the UNESCO Office in Bangkok, culture360.org and the World Design Capital. From 2005-2008, Sali was the Assistance Programme Specialist for UNESCO's Creative Cities Network in Paris, France.
Sali is currently a Visiting Professor in Communication Design and Design Management at Ãcole Parsons ? Paris. She is an INDIGO Ambassador and member of the Programme Committee for Rediscovery: Icograda Design Week in Sarawak.
