Seoul Design Foundation appoints Ahn Sang Soo as Chairman of the Board

Seoul (South Korea) - Seoul Metropolitan Government appointed Prof. Sang Soo, Ahn as the Chairman of the Board of Seoul Design Foundation. Among other projects during his three-year tenure, Ahn will preside over the opening of Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), a cultural and heritage centre in support of the design industry.
As one of the greatest figures of design in Korea, he has filled a variety of important posts in the design field including Icograda Vice President 1997-2001, Exhibition Planning Director of the Third Gwangju Biennale, Guest Professor at China Central Academy of Fine Arts, the first Korean member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale) and so on.
He created the popular Korean font, 'Ahn Sang Soo Font' in 1985, and received the Gutenberg Award in 2007 for his font design and contribution to spreading the excellence of Hangul, along with its beauty and creation history, to the world.
Ahn earned a doctorate in Applied Art at Hanyang University and honorary doctorate at Kingston University, United Kingdom. He completed his master's in typography and obtained a bachelor's degree in visual design at Hongik University, where he is now a Professor in the College of Fine Arts and Head of the School of Graphic Design.
