MX Design Conference 2011 Call for Participation launched

Mexico City (Mexico) - The Call for Participation is now open for MX Design Conference 2011, organised by the Design Department at the (UIA), Mexico City.

From 26-28 October 2011, MX Design Conference 2011 will present experiences from any area in which design intervention is demonstrated in nontraditional areas of knowledge or action, academic or professional, and their participation as a bridge in a diverse and changing world.

Call for participation

A variety of design disciplines are increasingly involved in projects that require a set of skills for which there is no specific design profile. Additionally, there are cases where the main contribution of the designer is not simply his or her ability to specify product design, but his or her approach to problems or method of work that generates innovation.

New profiles are now being formed from the experience of working in interdisciplinary teams, under nontraditional design processes, alongside actors with diverse knowledge, attitudes and culture. This is expanding the scope for the designer, and requires a reflection on the his or her defining characteristics in a diverse and constantly changing society.

The deadline for registration and submission is 15 April 2011. The abstracts submitted are evaluated by the Design Faculty in an individual and anonymous manner.

The results will be published on 22 April, and selected speakers will be asked to submit the full paper along with all audiovisual support they have.

A second evaluation will take place in June in order to select the participant papers in time for the presentations on 8 July. All papers accepted will be published in the event memoire.
