07.04.2009 News
Montreal (Canada) - From 15-25 July 2009, the State of Design Festival will showcase how design can lead business, industry and society towards a better future. Held in Melbourne, Australia, this year's Festival theme is 'Sampling the Future'. INDIGO, the International Indigenous Design Network, is pleased to partner with the Festival in presenting a unique panel discussion on contemporary issues at the intersection of indigenous knowledge and design.
"INDIGO explores the meaning and interpretation of indigenous design around the globe" said David Lancashire, chairperson of INDIGO's Advisory Group. "This panel is an opportunity to showcase how different approaches throughout Australia are drawing on indigenous knowledge to create forward-looking solutions."
"Our 2009 theme 'Sampling the Future' reminds us all that design is shaping the future of the world we live in. As ecological, economic and social issues converge, design holds one of the keys to logical and tangible solutions for tomorrow," said Ewan McEoin, Creative Director of the Festival. "In partnering with INDIGO, we hope to highlight how indigenous knowledge can contribute to a better future for us all."
The panel will be held 21 July at Federation Square's BMW Edge. Participants will be announced later this month.
