ICOGRADA ENDORSES VII INTERNATIONAL TRIENNIAL OF THE ECO-POSTER, 4TH BLOCK

Kharkov (Ukraine) - Icograda proudly endorses the , organised by Professional member the Association of Graphic Designers in Ukraine. The main goal of this triennial is to showcase the most significant achievements of the world's design community related to ecological subjects.
The first "4th Block" poster exhibition took place in 1991, when Oleg Veklenko, a professor at the Kharkiv Institute of Industrial Arts (now the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts) and former army officer, worked with his colleagues to organise an exhibition devoted to the fifth anniversary of the Chernobyl explosion.
The competition and exhibition of eco-poster, graphics and youth eco-projects has since occurred every three years. Exhibitions touch upon the most painful ecological problems, such as pollution, global warming, genetic engineering, etc. The 2006 edition brought over 4500 works from 54 different countries.
Components of the triennial now include accompanying exhibitions, ecological and art actions, performances and workshops by the triennial's international jury. Work from the "4th Block" triennial collection are displayed throughout Ukraine and abroad.
To participate in this year's competition, individuals and teams of artists and designers have until 1 February 2009 to submit their works from the past three years under the categories of eco poster, social eco project or eco-culture.

About the Association of Graphic Designers "4th Block"
The Association of Graphic Designers "4th Block" was established in 2002 by the initiative of the Honorary Artist of Ukraine Oleg Veklenko, as a public institution, uniting Ukrainian graphic designers, who care of social problems of the society, environmental conditions and ecology in our country and are interested in the development of Ukrainian graphic design. In 2004 the Association "4th Block" was admitted as the only Ukrainian member of Icograda.
