Istanbul (Turkey) - Cagla Turgul (Turkey) recently joined the '6 Alfabe' student workshop leaders (Isatnbul from 27 to 29 January 2004). Cagla, Mohammad Ali Yaghan (Jordan), Tarek Atrissi (Lebanon), Oded Ezer (Israel), Yaki Molcho (Israel), Tagir Safayev (Russia), Ashwini Deshpande (India), Elif Yalcinkaya (Turkey) and Ahn Sang-soo (South Korea) are polishing the concept and format of the workshop that will be announced in the next few days.

Born in 1970, Cagla Turgul received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Rochester Institute of Technology, New York (USA), School of Arts and Design, Department of Graphics Design (1993). She worked at Guzel Sanatlar/Bates, Lowe Lintas, Ajans Ultra and BEK Tasarim as art director/designer (1993-1997). She has been working as a freelance designer since the beginning of 1998. She taught Typography Course (as Introduction to Thesis) at Yildiz Technical University, School of Fine and Applied Arts, Department of Multimedia (1999-2002). She is planning to continue teaching in Spring 2004. She was awarded several awards in logo, letterhead, book, typography, invitation and brochure design by the Turkish Society of Graphic Designers (GMK) between 1997-2003 and has won the Eczacibasi Award in 1998 presented to the young designer of the year.

About the '6 Alfabe' student seminar
Hosted by the Istanbul Bilgi University in Istanbul (Turkey) the '6 Alfabe' student workshop will be held from 27 to 29 January 2004.

'6 Alfabe' means 6 alphabets in Turkish. Students will explore six writing systems and alphabets: the Roman, Hangul (South Korea), Arabic, Hebrew, Cyrillic and Devnagari (Hindi) alphabets.

The workshop will be conducted by 9 experts in graphic design and typograpy:

Oded Ezer (Israel)
Yaki Molcho (Israel)
Tagir Safayev (Russia)
Ashwini Deshpande (India)
Cagla Turgul (Turkey)

The workshop is open to all students. There is no registration fee but registration will be done on a 'first come/first served basis.'
