2011 edition of Poster for Tomorrow addresses right to education for all

Paris (France) - The 2011 edition of , the Icograda-endorsed competition, has selected the right to education for all - irrespective of gender, religion or handicap - as its theme.
Incredibly 121 million children worldwide are not in primary school, despite universal primary education being a right "guaranteed" in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and being Goal 2 of the UN Millennium Development Goals; while illiteracy rates are still staggeringly high even in countries where a child's right to education is guaranteed. In France illiteracy has become a "cause nationale" (with 3.1 million people unable to read, write or count), the rate of illiteracy in the United Kingdom is "unacceptably" high according to MP's, while according to the National Adult Literacy Survey, 42 million adult Americans can't read (and current estimates have the number of functionally illiterate adults in the United States increasing by approximately 2 500 000 persons each year). This is truly a problem that affects us all.
Poster for Tomorrow has chosen to fight for the right to education for all, believing that education gives people across the whole world the chance to break the cycle of poverty; to live in a more equal world, without discrimination, where everybody has the same chance to learn the same skills and enjoy the same success. To enjoy a better tomorrow!
The opens on 10 March 2011. The 2010 edition of the competition received 2094 entries.
Planned for Burkina Faso, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Mali, Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia and Zimbabwe, the workshops will be led by a team of international designers working in Europe and America, such as Reza Abedini (Iran), Michal Batory (France), Yossi Lemel (Israel), Guy Schockaert (Belgium) and Niklaus Troxler (Switzerland).
Poster for tomorrow is seeking financial support to make the workshops a reality.

New for 2011: Pan African Workshops project
