The Department of Art & Design is a diverse and wide-ranging academic unit employing 18 full-time faculty, 18 full-time equivalent contract instructors, and 12 full-time continuing support staff across seven major disciplines, each with graduate program specializations. These include Design Studies (Industrial and Visual Communication Design), Fine Art Studies (Drawing & Intermedia, Painting, Printmaking, and Sculpture), and the History of Art, Design and Visual Culture. The Department offers BA, BDes, BFA, MA, MDes, MFA and PhD degrees. It also administers the Fine Arts Building (FAB) Gallery, a major exhibition facility, and is home to a University Centre of Research Excellence in Printmaking and an emerging Centre of Research Excellence in Design.
The Department attracts 4000 undergraduate registrations per year and, on average, it welcomes 35 to 40 graduate students, the majority of whom are international students. It includes advanced specialized labs and studios for rapid prototyping, photography, all media for printmaking, 3 design computer labs, a 125-seat lecture theatre, a Print Study Centre and a Visual Resource Centre. The annual research/project grants (2000-present) total, on average, CAD $300,000 per year. Falling under the College of Social Sciences & Humanities, the Faculty of Arts includes the Departments of Drama and Music as well as Art & Design, in addition to 12 other Departments with which the Department of Art & Design interacts collaboratively.
The University of Alberta, founded in 1908, is one of Canada's largest research universities, and is situated in the provincial capital, Edmonton, a metropolitan area of over 1,000,000 with a vibrant artistic community and an excellent standard of living. The campus is located adjacent to one of the largest municipal park systems in North America and is approximately 4 hours by car from the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

School Design and Arts of the (BIT), founded in 1984 as the Department of Industrial Design, is one of the design schools that first opened industrial design courses in China. As the culmination of 30 years of experience and exploration, the school has established its leading position in design education of the nation and been granted the membership of the Industrial Design Education Steering Committee of the Education Ministry of China. To meet the demand of rapidly developing economy for design talents in a broad spectrum of fields, five departments have been established since 2000, including the Department of Visual Communication Design, the Department of Environmental Art and Design, the Department of Cultural Heritage, the Department of Decorative Painting, and the Department of Traditional Art Crafts. In 2002, the school was officially founded, featuring a unique model of comprehensive development combining technology, design and art. To further the reform of teaching methods, draw on the most recent concepts and philosophies in design and art industries, and create vigorous academic atmosphere and more favorable teaching and research environment, the school officially adopted its current name in 2009. Meanwhile, the academic resources and teaching staff were integrated, optimized and augmented, so as to adapt to the future development of the school, and provide constant booster and solid foundation for successful careers of students.

Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts?GAFA), the only one of its kind in South China, is the predecessor of Central South College of Fine Arts. The Academy consists of School of Traditional Chinese Painting, School of Fine Arts, School of Architecture and Allied Arts, School of Industrial Design, School of Visual Communication and Media Design, School of Art Education, School of Arts and Humanities, College of Continuing Education, and Section of Political Science. The bachelor degree education includes 11 disciplines and 38 directions, such as painting, sculpture, fine arts, art design, industrial design, architecture, photography, animation, fashion design & engineering, museology, and the like. The School of Visual Arts Design now has four secondary disciplines: visual communication, digital media, animation, and advertising, which correspond to three first-level disciplines: design, drama, film, and journalism. The college vigorously advocates the reform of teaching mode in the form of “2+2” which means the first and second grades are taught by the research department and the later second years are in studio. Currently, there are 4 research departments, including visual communication design, animation, digital media art, and advertising; the studio system is implemented in the senior stage, and there are currently 11 professional orientation studios: visual culture design, advertising design, brand design, information design, new media art design, digital image art design, cross-media art design, film and television animation design, experimental animation design, entertainment derivative design, digital game design, etc. In terms of school conditions, the college has teaching facilities such as graphic design laboratory, Apple computer laboratory, 3D animation laboratory, post-production laboratory, digital creative design laboratory, digital imaging laboratory, etc., which provides a good platform and experimental techniques for the cultivation of professional talents. -

Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University inherits the Shanghai Art Spirit of Shanghai Fine Arts School founded by Liu Haisu in 1912, and in 1959 the Shanghai Municipal People's Government rebuilt the Shanghai Fine Arts College (undergraduate). It was merged into the newly established Shanghai University and named the Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai University In 1983. In December 2016, it was officially renamed as Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts (SAFA), Shanghai University. Prof. Zeng Chenggang, vice chair of the China Artists Association and president of the China Sculpture Institute is the current Dean of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. SAFA has 3 A-level doctoral programs (fine arts, design, art theory), 1 A-level master program (architecture), 2 professional master's degree programs (fine arts, art design), and 1 postdoctoral station (fine arts). SAFA has 17 undergraduate majors in Chinese painting, oil painting, print-making, sculpture, calligraphy, fine arts, art design, visual communication design, environmental design, art and technology, digital media art, architecture, urban and rural planning, art design, product design, arts and crafts, and art management., including 7 national first-class undergraduate major sites and 3 provincial first-class undergraduate major sites. SAFA consists of 8 teaching departments, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center Public Art Technology Experimental Teaching Center, and the Shanghai Public Art Collaborative Innovation Center, one of the first batches of municipal collaborative innovation centers. In recent years, SAFA faculties have been approved in many national, provincial, and ministerial projects such as the National Social Science Foundation, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Major Project, the National Art Fund, the National Art Fund Creation Funding Project, the Shanghai Philosophy Society Project, and the Shanghai Major Literary and Artistic Creation Funding Project. Undergraduate students have won 117 national awards and 36 international awards in professional or discipline competitions. Graduate students have won 103 national awards and 58 international awards in professional or discipline competitions, and doctoral students have published more than 100 high-level journal papers. The school closely focuses on the school ideology of "FOR PEOPLE, FOR ART, FOR LIFE, FOR CITY", with the vision of "holding up the banner of 'new Shanghai ethos', creatively inheriting the tradition of applying for education, innovatively developing Haipai (“Shanghai-style”) culture, and creatively improving Shanghai's humanities", and with the mission of "building the coordinates of international urban art in China and China", and striving to build a world-class art academy that matches this modern international metropolis with global influence.

The Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University is the first higher education institute of arts and design in China, with The Central Academy of Arts & Design being its predecessor, was established in 1956 and merged into Tsinghua University in 1999.
The mission of the Academy has been twofold: serving the daily needs of the population, and contributing to the economic and cultural development of the country. Its notable achievements include design work for the “Top Ten Architectural Decorations”, the Beijing Olympics, and the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the National Day (e.g. the two long red ribbons on Tian‘anmen Square, parade floats and ceremonial vehicles).
The Academy offer a range of BA, MA and PhD degree programs across the art and design. In addition to a basic teaching and research group, there are ten departments to cover textile and fashion design, ceramic design, visual communication design, environmental art design, industrial design, arts and crafts, information art & design, painting, sculpture, and art history.
The Academy has developed a comprehensive platform integrating teaching, research and academic publications. Its Laboratory for Arts & Design Education, a national experimental teaching demonstration center, consists of 29 labs. It publishes ZHUANGSHI, a core art journal in China.
The Academy actively cultivates “virtuous, artistic, knowledgeable and creative” talents, putting a premium on individuality and innovation. It aims to raise its international profile and strengthen its global influence.

INTI has established the INTI Center of Art and Design (ICAD) (2013) at INTI Subang campus that offers the full array of art and design programs along with the specialized facilities. Other than the physical facilities, ICAD has emphasized on regular curriculum revamping, where feedback from different stakeholders been collected to create the most robust and industry relevant curriculum.
