ICoD is pleased to announce the Member Event the JAGDA International Student Poster Award 2019 organised by Japan Graphic Designers Association Inc. (JAGDA).

ABOUT

The JAGDA International Student Poster Award is a B1 size poster competition that can be described as the starting point for graphic design in Japan, targeting high school students and above. We aspire to discover new talent that can be found in the instantaneous power of visual communication of a single poster. Our hope is to understand each other beyond national and regional borders and to share international issues.

Eligibility:
Current students as of 2019, enrolled in high school, technical college, specialized training college, university or graduate school. All nationalities, all ages.
*Including March 2019 graduates.

Submission Specifications:
Medium: Poster
Size: B1 (width 728mm, height 1,030mm), portrait orientation only
Date of production: produced between August 2018 and July 2019
Theme: Line
Note: In addition to independent works, classroom assignments, graduation projects, and works submitted for other awards are also accepted.
Application Fee: 1,000 yen per work (For a work in a series, this would be the number of pieces × 1,000 yen / ex. 3 pieces in one series would be 3,000 yen)

Submitted works must be the applicant’s original works and must not infringe any third party’s intellectual property rights. In the event of violation of intellectual property rights, the applicant’s work may be disqualified, even after the selecting of works and the awarding of prizes. The copyright of the entry shall be attributed to its creator.
Judging will be conducted with the private information of the applicant’s name, school name etc. concealed.

Prizes:
Grand Prix: 1 winners (certificate, commemorative item
Gold: 2 winners (certificate, commemorative item)
Silver: 5 winners (certificate, commemorative item)
Bronze: 10 winners (certificate, commemorative item)
Special Jury Prize: Multiple winners (certificate)
Selected: Approximately 200 selected works

*The Grand Prix and Gold recipients will be invited to the awards ceremony on Friday 6 December 2019 (roundtrip transportation fee and accommodation expenses provided for distant winners).
*The Grand Prix and Gold prize winning works will be published in the annual book “Graphic Design in Japan 2020”.
*All selected works will be exhibited at the National Art Center, Tokyo and will be published in a catalogue.

Dates:
Submission Deadline: 22 July 2019
Selected works: 2 September 2019
Winning works: 7 October 2019
Awards Ceremony: 6 December 2019
Display of selected works: 27 November - 9 December 2019, at the National Art Center, Tokyo

All entries will be handled with care, however JAGDA is not responsible in case of damage, etc. The organizer shall not be responsible for any problems arising from the entry work. All applicant’s personal information acquired will be used only in the scope needed for the organizer to execute this project, or for providing for the relevant projects, and will not be distributed to third parties without the consent of the applicant.

Entries will not be returned, but if applicants request in advance the return of works those will be returned by collect after the exhibition ends, January 2020.
