ICoD is pleased to announce the Member Event JAGDA International Student Poster Award-themed "Money" organised by ICoD Member Japan Graphic Designers Association Inc. (JAGDA). EVENT SUMMARY

The JAGDA International Student Poster Award is a B1 size poster competition, launched to discover and honour next-generation talents, with the aims to develop and expand graphic design. Poster designs that combine images and texts as free expression have the force to move people’s hearts, enabling visual communication across countries and regions. We hope to understand each other and share international issues through posters.

 

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Submission Deadline:  01 April – 31 July 2020

Submission Criteria:  B1 size poster works (width 728mm, height 1,030mm) produced between July 2019 and July 2020, portrait orientation only. The work must include the lettered characters of the theme. In addition to independent works, classroom assignments, graduation projects, and works submitted for other awards are also accepted.

Theme: Money

Eligibility:  Current students as of 01 January 2020, enrolled in highschool, technical college, specialised training college, university or graduate school. All nationalities, all ages welcome. Group applications are not accepted (individuals only).

Number of Applications: Unlimited. A series can include up to 3 pieces.

Application Fee: 1,000 yen per piece (A series of 2 pieces is 2,000 yen; a series of 3 pieces is 3,000 yen)


KEY DATES
1. Registration (Wed 1 April–Fri 31 July)
Register your entry, upload the poster image, and complete the payment on the Award website.
2. Payment (Wed 1 April–Mon 3 Aug)
Payment will not be accepted after the deadline.
3. First and Second round judgings August (online)
4. Announcement of selected works (Mon 7 Sep). The result will be announced on the Award website and email (to the selected applicants only).
5. Submission of selected actual posters (Wed 23–Thurs 24 Sep) Selected applicants will send actual posters and hi-res images (for catalogue) to the Secretariat.
6. Third round judging
October (actual posters)
7. Announcement of Awards (Wed 7 Oct).
The result will be announced on the Award website and email (to the winners only).
8. Exhibition (Wed 25 Nov–Mon 7 Dec)
The National Art Center, Tokyo
9. Catalogue (Wed 25 Nov)
A catalog of awarded and selected works will be published.

 

JUDGING
The first and second round judgings, in which the selected works will be decided, will be conducted using an online screening system. The third round judging will be held by the judging session with the actual posters, and Grand Prix and other awards will be decided. The Juries are as follows:

AWARDS

The following awards shall be given in the judging:

  • Grand Prix: 1 work (certificate, commemorative item)
  • Gold: 2 works (certificate, commemorative item)
  • Silver: 5 works (certificate, commemorative item)
  • Bronze: 10 works (certificate, commemorative item)
  • Jury Prize: 7 works (certificate)
    *Selected: Approximately 200 works


The Grand Prix and Gold recipients will be invited to the awards ceremony in November 2020 (roundtrip transportation fee and accommodation expenses provided for distant winners).

The Grand Prix and Gold prize-winning works will be published in the annual book Graphic Design in Japan 2021.
All selected works will be exhibited at the National Art Center, Tokyo, and published in a catalog.
