Taiwan (Chinese Taipei)

The Taiwan International Poster Design Award is hosted by the Department of Commercial Affairs, MOEA to promote Taiwan's commercial design and to continue the exchange and interaction between our commercial design services and the international world. This competition will select outstanding works of international standard, raise the visibility of Taiwan's design potential and broaden the horizon of Taiwan's design industry.

Eligibility

The competition is open to designers from all regions and countries. All entries must be created after June 2007.

Participation in this activity is free of charge.

Themes and categories

Special Theme: Harmonious human/nature relationship (Category A)
Open Category: commercial (Category B) and promotional  (Category C)

Awards

A total of 7 winners will be selected for the two categories.
  • One Grand Prize
  • Two Gold Medals
  • Two Silver medals
  • Two Bronze Medals

All winning entries will be awarded with a medal and a certificate of honour. Exhibitions will be held and publications will be produced as promotional means.

If a Taiwanese designer wins the grand prize, gold, silver or bronze medal, the organiser will set up a special committee to assist him/her to participate in international design competitions.

Judging criteria

Entries will be judged on creativity, integrity of composition, and technical rigor.

Judge panel

The judging committee consists of prominent domestic and foreign professionals selected by the organiser.

  • Tsung-Hung Su (Taiwan), Art Director of Lemon Yellow Design Company, professor of the Department of Fine Arts, Chinese Culture University
  • Jeff, Che-Fu Liao (Taiwan), Art Director of Feng Geh Image Design, designer
  • Freeman Lau (Hong Kong), vice chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Design Centre, Partner of Kan & Lau Design Consultants, received the 2008 Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award
  • Ahn Sang-Soo (Korea), leader of "Ahn Graphic Design Studio", past member of the Icograda Executive Board.
  • Martin Woodtli (Switzerland), lecturer at the Academy of Art in Bern and the Academy of Art and Design in Lucerne, winner of the "Swiss Design Award"

Usage of prize-winning works

Award winning entries will be included in the "Taiwan International Poster Design Competition" special publication and published on the "Commercial Service Design Development Plan" website and related promotional publications.

Award winning entries will be exhibited in events related to this project.

The organiser has the right to use the submitted works in any kind of publicity, touring exhibition, publication or commissioned publication, etc., without additional payments; however, this use shall not interfere with other commercial uses and applications.

Registration can be done online or by mail.

Online registration: Please send in personal information, information of the entry and upload the image file.

Registration in writing:
Please submit with the entry the filled-out registration form, authorisation letter and the entry description tag.

By mail:
Entries should be postmarked by 31 August 2009 (according to mail stamp). For identification reasons, please attach the entry no. on the package and all forms.

Announcement of winners

The list of award-winners shall reflect the judges' final decision. The implementing organisation shall notify all winners within 15 day.
