ICoD is pleased to announce the Member Event, 43rd Graphic Design Exhibition, organised by the Turkish Society of Graphic Designers (GMK). The event will take place from 23 November to 13 December 2024.

The Countdown for the 43rd Graphic Design Exhibition!

The countdown has begun for the 43rd Graphic Design Exhibition organized by the Association of Graphic Designers in Turkey (GMK). At the award ceremony to be held on November 13 at Moda Sahnesi, GMK awards will be presented in 22 categories, including posters, books, motion graphics, and social media applications, along with special awards. Following the award ceremony, the exhibition will open on November 23 at the Main Gallery of Marmara University, offering the opportunity to see a collective display of designs from the past year.

Continuing to honour graphic designers every year since 1981, the exhibition serves as a source of encouragement and motivation for emerging talents in the field. It will be viewed for free from November 23 to December 13, 2024.

EVENT DESCRIPTION

The Association of Graphic Designers in Turkey (GMK) was founded in Istanbul in 1978. The organization has a diverse membership that includes creative teams from advertising agencies, design studios, academics, and students. GMK aims to foster the development of graphic design in Turkey, bring together designers working in the field, and protect their professional rights. GMK has also created a significant archive in the field of graphic design through its Graphic Design Exhibitions and publications. Since 1993, it has also been a member of the International Council of Design (IcoD).

The Graphic Design Exhibitions, which have been held since 1981, are among Turkey’s most established and important design events. The exhibition provides an opportunity to view the designs of the past year across various categories. Since its inception, it has aimed to strengthen the connection between graphic design and the business, production, cultural, and societal worlds, create a platform for cultural exchange and interaction among colleagues from different generations and design philosophies, and support and encourage young designers.

In 2018, Design 360° Magazine, a leading concept and design publication in the Asia region, featured GMK and the Graphic Design Exhibition in detail, labelling them as “New Actors in European Graphic Design.” In October 2021, GMK published the book GMK 40+ as a record of its 40-year journey as a civil society organization and its work on behalf of the profession.
